The end of "the war to end all wars" came in the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day honoring those brave men and women the following year. In 1954, the word "Armistice" was replaced with "Veterans" and the day became known as the day to honor American veterans of all wars. Today, I carry on that tradition and honor those who serve. It is because of those who came before me and continue Read more [...]

An article in the Boston Globe explored the idea that Laura Ingalls Wilder's books were written as anti-New Deal fables and are early documentations of Libertarian ideals. The author Christine Woodside explores the Wilder family papers as well as letters to link the children's books to Libertarian values. She claims that not only do the stories tell of a family of self-reliant pioneers, but that they were also shaped to refute the post-depression era rapid government expansion. The title here implies that she actually has some sense, but I am starting to doubt even that. All this time, I thought she was just lying. One of her latest tweets demonstrates what I am talking about. With minimal training, firing 10 rounds in one minute with any type of firearm, except for early flintlock muzzleloaders, is absolutely possible. This includes any semi-automatic firearm with sufficient magazine capacity and amount, any bolt action rifle, any shotgun, and any revolver. I've Read more [...]

Effective Car Carry

I carry a concealed handgun for self-defense everywhere I am legally permitted to do so. I prepare and train for the worst. I'd like to think I am prepared to handle the typical badguy and maybe even a few of the non-typical ones. I also understand that I am most vulnerable when entering and exiting my car. This video demonstrates just how vulnerable I am and has me reconsidering my approach to combat readiness. Bad guy comes around the corner at 0:34. The confrontation starts at 0:36. For the Read more [...]
